Elan Lighting, a greater Milwaukee based manufacturer representative group of high end, design oriented lighting, was faced with a dilemma at the outset of 2016.
They had currently outgrown their existing space from both an occupancy and brand standpoint. Utilizing Interior Investments space planning services, several locations were explored, but ultimately a suite within their existing industrial building was selected. From the outset, there was one challenge that rose above all else: How do you transform a suburban industrial building, into a highly productive hub built for employees, external lighting designers, contractors and end user clients? A vision began to take shape that focused on flexibility and free movement throughout space by employees and visitors alike.
A large emphasis was placed on group spaces which can be seen starting in the lobby reception area moving through café and into Elan’s multipurpose training room. Throughout this space, unique seating elements, patterned flooring and an infusion of Elan’s lighting portfolio are displayed to help enhance the feeling of a working showroom. Across from the café space. Employees have moved have moved into workstations equipped with height adjustable surfaces and lower panel walls placed together to encourage open collaboration and motion change throughout the day.
Elan Lighting’s now completed showroom, is prime example of how design and planning can help a company attain the feel and energy of a downtown office in a suburban setting.
