Helping our friends at the Special Olympics of Illinois

Each year, our Aeron Hockey Tournament draws a wide variety of attendees from our partners in the Architecture, Design, Construction and Real Estate community. Thirty-two teams from these firms gear up to play against each other for the grand prize “Aeron Hockey Trophy” and help money for the Special Olympics.  For guests that registered early, attendance is free for spectators to join us for food and drink; to watch the action in the rinks; to purchase raffle tickets for amazing prizes like the Remastered Aeron Chair, a classic Eames Lounge and Ottoman, or one of three incredible trips; or scratch off some lottery tickets to win big bucks at the Special Olympics Illinois Lottery station.

There is NEVER a dull moment throughout the night!  Between the impromptu dance parties outside of the rinks, or the players whizzing around within them, the Navy Pier Aon Ballroom is abuzz. Spectators can stand feet from the players and watch the action up close and personal.  While the games last hours, there are breaks in the action to announce the awards and raffle winders, and most importantly to hand out trophies to our winners and present our donation check to the Special Olympics of Illinois.

The 2017 winners:

-Perkins Eastman won the “Spirit Award” for their Perkins Geeseman theme

-ESD received the “Big Assist” for raising the most funds of the teams

-Cannon Design won the A&D Tournament Bracket and were runners-up overall

-Golub was our tournament winner for the fourth year, also winning the Real Estate & Construction Division

The real winners though are our friends at the Special Olympics of Illinois. Not only was 2017 the largest attended year yet (1200 registrations & over 800 attendees) but it was also the highest grossing donation year, raising over $50,000! 

Our annual tradition continues on February 22, 2018 and our planning and excitement has already begun.   Our new website has just launched at www.aeronhockey.com.  More information about Aeron Hockey 2018 will be posted throughout the year, along with the highlights from 2017—so check it out now and check back often.
