Reyes Beer Division
Our collaboration with Reyes Holdings on a Chicago division headquarters took a creative approach to re-use that led to a sustainability milestone and heightened brand storytelling.
In the summer of 2022, Reyes Holdings unveiled its new corporate headquarters for Reyes Beer Division in Chicago, Illinois, marking a significant milestone in their commitment to sustainability and innovation. The project, a remarkable transformation of a 48,500-square-foot furniture retail building on Elston Street, was achieved through a collaborative effort involving OKW Architects, Helios Construction Services, and Interior Investments as the furniture dealer on the project.
The space now accommodates approximately 175 RBD employees, with the first floor showcasing a Beer Hall characterized by locally sourced materials. A striking element on the second floor is the high-end boardroom, creatively adorned with salvaged kegs encased in transparent glass walls. Adjacent to it, a speakeasy ambiance is created using re-purposed wood pallets forming a decorative ceiling cloud with integrated lighting. Two existing penthouses were transformed into a vibrant roof patio area, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among employees.
Sustainability was a driving force behind the design and construction of the Reyes Beer Division office space. Embracing LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) principles, the team incorporated several eco-friendly features. A rainwater harvesting system was installed to efficiently water plants in the building. Recycled kegs were ingeniously re-purposed in the boardroom design. We collaborated with the client and design firm to develop beer hall tables fashioned from retired beer aging barrels, highlighting both creativity and sustainability.
