Special Olympics of Illinois
Every year, Interior Investments hosts the Annual Aeron Hockey Tournament which raises money and awareness for Special Olympics of Illinois.
Interior Investments' Aeron Hockey encourages the organizations responsible for building some of the most prestigious office and institutional spaces in Chicago to construct an atmosphere of friendly competition and generosity. Aeron chairs, typically hailed for their ergonomic virtues zip around the floor of Navy Pier's Grand Ballroom, carrying one team to ultimate victory and bragging rights for the year.
No matter who raises the tournament trophy, the real winners are the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. Funds raised from this event are earmarked for the Special Olympics Illinois State Floor Hockey Tournament held every November at Northeastern University in Chicago. In the past 10 years, the number of teams has grown by 170% from an average of 10 teams per year to now 27. In 2017, there were 438 total athletes that competed in a series of 26 games and multiple skills competitions. With the money raised from Aeron Hockey, Special Olympics is able to cover important costs of hosting this event such as, venue rental, lunch, trophies, volunteer and official shirts, and medals.
